To receive an Excellent rating, the individual must be active in research involving students and demonstrable through presentation or publication in a professional forum.
So far, the work done by 7 of my honors students and 1 of my senior capstone students has been presented at national or international conferences. I plan to continue involving students in preparing conference presentations and proceedings based on our work together. Prior to joining JMU, I was able to bring 1 student to a professional conference (SPIE 06) where he presented our project on intelligent systems for automated quality assurance:
