A Satisfactory rating requires supervising student independent study and honors projects.
I have been an active mentor and supervisor for 14 students working on 5 different JMU senior capstone projects since my second year here, resulting in 1 presentation at a conference. This year, I am supervising 6 students working on 2 different projects. I have also served on the committees for 2 MS ISAT students. Prior to arriving at JMU, I mentored 5 undergraduate students and 1 graduate student on projects through the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, and mentored 1 co-operative education student through three years of work on a major project. My REU/co-op students and I published 5 papers in conference proceedings at the SPIE and ADASS conferences on software, data analysis, and project management for astronomy.
